Jaden is a television chef, food columnist and award-winning food blogger at Steamy Kitchen. You can watch her cook twice a month on Daytime Show, syndicated in 120 markets. In addition to being a food columnist for Discovery’s TLC and for the Tampa Tribune, she has been featured on the Today Show, CBS Early Show, Martha Stewart Living Radio,, and Parents Magazine. Jaden was recently named one of the hottest women in food (blush) and also one of the best food bloggers on Jaden is a mom of two little boys, Andrew and Nathan, who love to eat almost as much as she does! Her latest adventure is a 5-acre community farm to be built in 3 days in October.

Yongja Kim
Cookbook Author and Television Chef

Yongja Kim is a gastronomy journalist and expert on Korean cuisine. She has been a cooking instructor since 1993 in New York City and the surrounding region. She has also hosted food shows for cable television networks. In 1995, she wrote Food of the West, a comprehensive guide and cookbook on Western food in the Korean language. The present book, Korean Cuisine, was written to share with the world the enticing flavors and health benefits of Korean food.

Leah learned to cook by helping her mother make dinner and watching Julia Child on television. A graduate of New York University, Leah has more than 15 years of experience as an editor for national publications such as First for Women, Fitness, Natural Health and Prevention. A New Yorker for more than 20 years, she fell in love with Queens after moving to the borough in 2006. She lives in Long Island City with her fiancé Paul and dog Lucy.

Professor Emeritus at Queens College–CUNY, Editor of Flavor and Fortune

Dr. Newman is the Professor Emeritus at Queens College–CUNY, where she taught courses in basic and experimental food sciences, research techniques, ethnic foods, and extensively researched Chinese foods and food habits. She has authored eleven books and monographs and six chapters, and been a guest editor of several journals. Two recent books are: Food Culture in China and Cooking from China’s Fujian Province. Newman is editor-in-chief of Flavor and Fortune, the only English-language quarterly magazine in the US dedicated to the science and art of Chinese cuisine; she has been at its helm for seventeen years.  She has served on the boards of the International Association for the Study of Food and Society, and the American Institute of Food and Wine, been on the board of the Queens Botanical Garden, and on the awards committee of the James Beard House.

She is passionate about Asian cuisine and promoting Asian culinary talent. She is also the Principal of Niwa Public Relations. A Boston-based public relations and marketing agency with expertise in promoting talent, integrated social media campaigns, community relations, trade shows, corporate relations, fundraising, events management, sponsorship, sports marketing, and government affairs. Niwa PR provides services to talent, start ups, Fortune 500 companies and non‐profit organizations that want to reach the Asian Pacific American Market as well as mainstream media.

Journalist and Public Relations Expert

Alex Peng, a proud Queens resident, has served as a trailblazer in lifestyle journalism. Ever since 1980s, Mr. Peng has led a literary journey with readers and listeners to visit the physical, historical and cultural landscape of New York. His perspective has sometimes, influentially, become general perception. Mr. Peng has uniquely documented the history of Chinese restaurants in Queens and has continually written on the subject of “Only in Queens.”

A Japan native, Yasushi has worked and lived in the United State for over 25 years. With a background in journalism, Yasushi has been a writer and editor for established business and finance publications. With 8 years of experience at Nomura Securities International and other financial services companies under his belt, Yasushi founded Two River Associates in 2008, a company specializing in cross-cultural business development, assisting small businesses to expand into new markets.


Asian Feastival continues to strive at promoting the diverse foods and cuisines from Asia through experience and education. Currently, plans are under way for a more involved campaign and events in 2012.
